Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why establishing ?

With the growing number of Chinese students as well as scholars in the University of Michigan(UM), Chinese Students and Scholars Association(CSSA) has become the largest student organziation in our University. Since most routine work of CSSA is carried out by CSSA committee, an efficient operation of the committee has crucial influence on the daily life of mass Chinesein UM. Previous experience has demonstrated that the lack of an appropriate independent third party supervising the operation of CSSA committee leads to occasion disorder and conflicts among different groups of Chinese students, which further brings detrimental influence to mass Chinese in UM. On the other hand, insufficient transparency in CSSA committee operation tends to put itself into questions from regular CSSA members.

The establishment of Council of Chinese Students and Scholars Representatives(CCSSR) is aim at facilitating a better operation of CSSA comittee as well as a better communication among mass CSSA members and limited committee members. The ultimate goal is to make our community better and bring the maximum benefit to every Chinese.
