I really can’t believe that anyone can get that LOW TO SELL… i swear when i saw these ads i felt a bit sick in my stomache, they used some of the most tragic events that happened in the last few years in a not funny at all way to promote their magazine, the slogan READING HUMO CAN HAVE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES…
The sickest ad is this one:
using the death of the King of Pop to sell their magazine?? c’mon that’s too much don’t you think??
then they used the 9-11 tragic event in a not funny at all ad, i really dunno what they were thinking..
and the last one they used is on the war on iraq and how the American Soldiers caught the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussien, because he was distracted by reading Humo.

The Michael Jackson ad is not about his death. It’s about a nose-job going wrong. You can see the surgeon grabbing Jackson’s nose. This ad dates from five years ago.
You’re ignorant!
It’s supposed to be funny, and make people laugh, if you can’t you’re an idiot!
it’s called sarcasm, get used to it if you ever come to europe and belgium!!!
I’m from Belgium. Firstly, the ads are all about four/five years old. Meaning: the King of Pop wasn’t dead then at all. Secondly, we think the ads are pretty funny. Moreover, the ads have been talked and written about in other countries as well, and every time they were considered as good, funny, not trashy ads. Seems like Americans are the only people not liking it. I don’t mean offense: i understand that it’s different because the events happened in your country or involved people from America. But still, lighten up. 9/11 was very, very tragic, but a sense of humour helps to process it… I mean: to most of us it’s clear the ad doesn’t mean disrespect to the victims at all.
In case you didn’t know: those ads date as far back from 2003, when the king of pop was still alive…
funny ads, and btw the one about the king of pop has nothing to do with his death, its about his nose
Come on, HUMO is one of the most funny magazines in the world. The ad of The King Of Pop dates back from several years ago, when he wasn’t dead yet. They laugh with his “beautifull” nose, not with his ’still-to-come’ death.
If you can not see the humor in this, you must get sick in the stomach all the time when you watch TV or surf the internet… best of luck to you then…
Just to let you know, those commercials were published way before MJ died, it has nothing to do with that event,
And I think they are hilarious…
Just grow some humor
You are not thinking this trough. The add with MJ is from much earlier. This campaing goes back a couple of years. It has to do with his failed nosejob, not with his death.
I’m from belgium and i can tell you we alle love those adds. Humo is an alternative popular magazin and the commercials they make are hilarious.
Those adds were actually made in 2003, so Humo isn’t using the dead of the King of Pop to sell more of their magazines.
However, I think these adds are just brilliant.
They don’t use the dead of MJ to sell, this ads are a couple years old, and as I remember, he was still alive at those days. -_-
(Sorry for my bad English, I’am Flemish. And I really like humo
)
these ads are from 2003
The add about Mr. Jackson was released more then a year before he died

You shouldn’t tell lies
And come on, the last one is really funny
Can I just point out that these ads were produced in 2003.
In the first image, it’s not about the death of Michael Jackson, but his plastic surgery problems. You can see the scalpel clearly pointed at his nose.
On a personal note, I have to say that I find the ads very funny.
First off, it was not about the death of Michael Jackson at all, it was about his nose falling off. Secondly, it’s not just to sell, it’s also to open people’s minds and to have a sense of humor about things.
Humo is one of the best magazines ever, a magazine that shows each side of the story. In serious conflicts like the Osama Bin Laden thing, they did not only interview American experts, but also European, Middle-eastern and family members. Right now with the death of Michael Jackson, they ran some very good pieces about his life, honouring the good stuff and mentioning the bad, but not dwelling on it.
Unlike so many other famous supposedly good magazines, Humo does not run on sensation. They would never dwell on things like Lindsay Lohan being caught on tape stealing, but they focus on more important things, trying to bring it objectively and with a bit of humor, because if you can’t laugh about it there’s nothing else to do but cry.
More magazines should run ads like the ones above, because then maybe people would realise that it’s not the end of the world, that it’s not the end of civilization as we know it, but just some funny pictures.
If you actually did a bit of research you should’ve known that these ads were published back in 2003 (like some other helpful and totally not evil Belgians here pointed out)
see if you can get the humour in this one

I know I had a good laugh when I saw it. Learn to grow a brain and some humour
The ignorance. Humo is often recognised as a magazine with lots of satire in it. Someone who knows what Humo is all about, will think this is incredible funny, even someone who doesn’t read this, will find this funny. There’s even another one where Dutroux escapes from prison and he is one of Belgians biggest rapist, but I also think that’s funny.
P.S. check your sources before you say that Humo uses the death of Michael Jackson. He died of an overdosis, not on the operation table. And you can clearly see that they’re working on his nose.
You are pathetic.
These ads are absolutely hilarious, kudos to the people from this magazine…
All this commotion for a few hilarious and brilliant ads just proves that a lot (not all!) Americans are WAY to conservative and WAY to serious!! Look at us ‘happy’ Belgians (Europeans)… We also have a lot of problems and serious situations, but we still keep thinking positive and we still want to laugh!! (Ref: Humo ad with Dutroux…)
)
Time for a new award: Most daring but most BRILLIANT ad of the world! And the winner is.. HUMO!!!
